Chris Manning
 | I would like to nominate my husband Sgt. Chris Manning, who has been an active duty Marine for almost 5 years. In my opinion being in the military already makes you a hero but I believe that he brings the word hero to a whole new level. He is currently on his 3rd deployment serving overseas in Afghanistan. Last fall he volunteered to switch to a unit that was in need of a sergeant for their upcoming tour. Shortly after he volunteered we found out that we were expecting our first baby. It is definitely difficult traveling this pregnancy journey by myself but how can I not be proud of a man who volunteered to serve his country again. He is such a role model for his junior Marines, always keeping them level headed and pointing them in the right direction. He is the type of Marine who takes pride not only in the job that he has but also with the title of a United States Marine. Unfortunately he is going to miss the birth of our daughter later this summer but we will be patiently awaiting the safe return of our hero this fall. I wish that I could nominate all of the hero's that are currently serving our country because I don't think they are thanked enough or even recognized for the sacrifices that they and their families make on a daily basis.
