My best friend of 10 years has dedicated her life to rescuing and fostering stray and lost dogs. Marisa's 7 year old daughter, Aliya, was hit and killed by a speeding teen 4 years ago. Aliya and Marisa picked up over 50 stray and lost dogs in Aliya's short time on this earth. Marisa continues to rescue and foster and now Aliya's dog Pepper has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Pepper is now a therapy dog, helping Marisa through panic attacks and depression. Even after getting the diagnosis and trying to fundraise to save Pepper, Marisa has taken in a dog from Belize for 6 months because the owners are moving to the Cayman islands,a country with strict guidelines that the dog must live in the states before being allowed to enter the Caymans. Even though she is overwhelmed with grief, and more than has her hands full, she offered to help so the little boy who owns him wouldnt have to give him up.
