Maye Hill

My mother has been an awesome hero to me. She worked super hard to raise her kids, and tought me to continue school and to be drug and alcohol free. I remember when I was a young girl she would drop me and my sisters off at day care then take the bus half way across town to her work when we lived in Phoenix. Growning up with a single mom is never easy, I would feel bad when every payday would come around and she never had that extra money to buy herself something new she always had to pay the bills, but never in my life has she complained that she would give up on her kids. Everyday I am so blessed to have such a loving and caring mother. She had raised my sisters and I to be such strong native american women and to remember our heritage. My mother also has the heart of helping people. She would give up her time to make food for our community potlock even if she was the only one cooking and there was a hundred or so people. She helped the youth with their christmas program or community trash pick up. She a well know and respected women around our community, everyone knows her as the Maye and her girls. Not everyone in our community had a chance to have a mother like Maye but in away im 110% sure she had impacked their lives to become a better person. In my heart, mind, and spirit, I always keep a part of my mom with me beause without her I wouldn't be the women I am today. Thank you!
