Mac – is an 11 yr old soccer player who suffered a freak spinal injury during a game on 12/19. She lost feeling from her waist down and is slowing recovering one step at a time. Before the injury Mackenzie was one of the most outgoing and positive kids that you would meet and this injury isn’t setting her back. As friends come to visit her and show her support she is the one that provides comfort by being who she is and maintaining a can do attitude. She showed a bit a of disappointment when she was told that she is out of soccer for at least 16 months but quickly rebounded when the coach offered her a position on helping coach from the sidelines. The road to recovery is a tough one – but she has embraced it and is even calling it boot camp. Mackenzie is my hero because she continues to remain positive and outgoing despite her current physical challenges. She should be chosen as a KISS hero because people need to be reminded that just having the right attitude can make you a hero.
